March 30, 2010

Tuesday-We got up early and went into Sloan. There was so much rain. We wanted to get in and out so we could get a nap in and be rested for the game tonight.
We talked about food and how frustrating we are so our doctor said he could try to start eating and see what happens. This is what the gastro dr said we could do. Conflicting stories makes this all confusing.
We both took a nap and were waiting to leave for the game. Cody checked his email and he then asked if he could ride the zamboni tonight at the game. Ann emailed both of us and asked him if he wanted to ride it before the game when they do the ice. He was so thrilled. We got there and did not know we would get to do a high five to the players. John Sim was out so as soon as he saw Cody he said "looks like we will have to put you on payroll now." He is a nice guy too. The players came out very focused and Cody said Richard's name when he passed. It took him a few steps and he turns around and yells "Cody" before he gets on the ice. It was so cool. Cody was beaming. He did the zamboni thing and he loved it. We found out seats and we were sitting in Jeff Picker's seats so his parents were there.
The Islanders lost and it was a tough loss. We went down to wait for Richard. A few of the players came out and said hi to Cody and then Gillies walks out comes to Cody with this autographed stick. He remembered yesterday when Cody bumped him and he thought he should say hi. It was cool. I do feel bad for the loss. Richard came out but was not in a good mood. I am sorry they lost.
We got home late and Cody was exhausted. It was a fun 2 days!!

March 29, 2010

Monday-We woke up after a restful night and got ourselves to the coliseum for the Islanders practice. Cody was so excited. It feels very good to be writing here and not have to include so much medical stuff. Anyway, we were the only ones in the coliseum. We sat next to where the players come out and they filtered out and Richard, his player saw Cody and shouted to both of us. We sat with Ann and watched the practice. It was a pretty intense practice since tomorrow night's game is against the Rangers. We saw Gillies, the new player teaching a few others how to do some holds in a fight. He is a fighter for sure. When the players left the ice, we got a few more autographs. Josh Bailey came and gave him another stick. Richard came out and yelled for Cody to come with him. I was left to get the autographs from the other players. Ann gave us a book and and a banner so I was trying to get it signed. Cody was nervous and stepped down and followed Richard into the locker room. I, of course, (darn!) could not hang out there so he went alone. He said later they he was talking to a few of the players, Biron (goalie), Frans Neilsen, Sean Bergenheim to name a few. He came out with this HUGE smile on and just could not stop smiling. He was speechless on the way home too. I think he had to let it all sink in. It was a fun morning and an unforgettable one.

March 28, 2010

Sunday-Today was a day that I could have stayed in my pj's all day. We got out around lunch time and went to the mall. I needed to go to the apple store to have them look at my computer. Cody felt really good and was up a few times during the night but did well without immodium today. I am taking a close look at all his meds and doing research here online just to make sure nothing was overlooked as far as side effects and reactions with other meds goes. Just want to see if I can find anything. You never know.
It is getting frustrated here with eating. Cody wants to eat more which is a good sign but he is so limited. I said he needs to let the drs know he is getting fed up. It is so hard to keep saying no to him when it comes to food too.
Tomorrow we are going to the Isles practice so he is very excited about that.
Catch u tomorrow...

march 27, 2010

Saturday-We made it to the Fireman/Police hockey game. Cody had a good time and did well other than a few cramps here and there. He was hungry and it was hard for him not to eat. He did try an egg before we went but he was really hungry today. The firemen won, and I am pretty sure Craig was happy. It was a long day and I was pooped. We got home and Cody ate some potatoes and then his snacks. The Islanders played tonight so we watched a little. Actually Cody went to bed and I watched it. I cannot wait to go to bed and just have a day to relax, hopefully tomorrow. Have a great Sunday everyone...oxoxoxox

March 26, 2010

Friday-Today started pretty early. We were up several times last night and then we left here at 7 am. We got to Sloan at 8:30. We got the bloodwork done and he was in the procedure room at 10:00. The doctor doing the scopes was Dr. Ludwig and she was so pleasant. They are all so nice there. He was in a great mood this morning, joking with everyone and not nervous at all. The colonoscopy and endoscopy took about an hour. I went to see him and he was groggy but doing good. He had a lot of cramping and was gassy. The good news is there is no cancer and no signs of gvhd. He has an extremely irritated colon and she did several biopsies to determine the cause. It could be fungus, virus or some tough bacteria. We should hear the results next week. He should be able to be treated with antibiotics orally. My biggest fear was cancer and then the gvhd. So I feel like we can fight a stubborn infection. I will be anxiously awaiting the news. We are home and he is resting and I am following right behind. We have a big day planned tomorrow with the fireman/police hockey game and I know he is looking forward to that. We are taking his friend, Tom and Tom's mom. Should be a fun day. Thanks, Craig!

March 25, 2010

Thursday-Well, I was dreading today but it went pretty well. Cody is a trooper and amazes me more and more. It was nice out this morning so we decided to take a ride to Tanger outlets in Deer Park. It ended up not being so nice but we passed the morning. He sat with me and watched me eat lunch, he actually insisted I do. We got home, took a nap and then had to start the prepping for the colonoscopy. He took the laxative and then 2 hours later, we started the liquid part into his g tube. He did 4 ounces and was nauseous. Thank goodness for the NP's. Her idea was to put it right in the pump and that worked. It went in very slowly but was successful. He was up during the night but it did it's part. We know we have an early morning so we went to bed pretty early.

March 24, 2010

Wednesday-what an emotional and stressful day! Cody did well all night but woke up at 6am with blood and clots again. Then he had 2 more and so I had to call in. We were both so upset. I also called the GI dr and told him what was going on. I emailed our dr at NYU to see if he could get us in to that specialist and soon. The drs talked and the decision was made to do an endoscopy and colonoscopy and soon. So we are doing it Friday. The GI at Sloan seems to think from the description that it is the colon or rectum. He does not think it is diet. I do not know and will feel better after Friday and maybe they will have something to tell us. Maybe he is being treated the wrong way. Could it be the immodium? It is so frustrating. So I went in to tell Cody and he was so upset. He was supposed to go to the Islander game tomorrow night with his dad and he was going to see his player. After he calmed down, I asked him what was making him so upset-was he scared? His answer, "I won't get to see Richard". That is his player. Well, I made sure that message got to Richard. It breaks my heart. We are hoping he feels well after Friday because the Firemen/Police hockey game is Saturday, we are going to the Islanders practice on Monday and then the Islander game on Tuesday. He has a lot to look forward to. Today I let him take a long nap and then we went driving around and he did pretty well. We rode by his school and went to get a smoothie. We ran into Sue and Emily there so we sat with them. It was a nice afternoon.
Tomorrow he has to prep his bowel and it will be a tough day. Then hopefully we go in early on Friday.

March 23, 2010

Tuesday-Early morning and a long day. Cody got IV antibiotics for pneumonia and also IVIG today. It took a while. We sat in the recliner area which is always interesting to see others and hear stories. It is also very sad and gets to you for sure. Cody put his headphones on and watched a few movies. Guess it is his way of getting away from it all. We finally saw the drs at the end of the day and talked about his frustration with food. I had emailed the dr from NYU and got the name of a gastro specialist. I think we need to take this a step further. Cody was up with diarrhea last night and then nothing today. The dr we saw today at Sloan recommended the same dr so I will get an appt. We may need to do another colonoscopy to see if there is inflammation still there. We cannot come down on the steroids until we know if the inflammation is calmed down. It is very frustrating and Cody is getting down on himself and feeling pissed about the whole thing. I hope this helps him. We are both very tired and now it is my turn to go to bed. Night all.

March 22, 2010

Monday-Today was a tough one. Cody kept asking me to eat and I kept having to say no. Poor thing does not even want much but he just needs to calm his gut. So hard. He had physical therapy and did well and then the Make A Wish ladies came over. We discussed a possible wish for him and filled out some paperwork. It is nice to have something to look forward to. We are planning a cruise but not sure when. We want to make sure he can enjoy it and do the things he wants to do. So it might not happen until next year but that is ok. We were both still pooped from the weekend so an early bedtime was perfect for us. Tomorrow is an early morning and a long day at Sloan. I am thinking about taking Cody for another opinion for his gastro issues. I will talk to the team tomorrow.
I am thanking my SH family in advance. I saw an email today and I know the fundraiser is planned and that the teachers are on it already! Thanks to Corinne for putting the nice thought in everyone's heads over there. I miss all of you!!!

March 21, 2010

Sunday-Well, all was good with Cody's counts and there was not anything to do but to let his gut rest. So we were discharged around 10 and got here and passed out till 2. We were so tired. We woke up and hung out and the blood is slowly disappearing. Not sure if it was the lettuce but I am pretty sure it was. We rested most of the day and went to bed early. Let's hope the night is better.

March 20, 2010

Saturday-I think I missed a day in here somewhere. I will go back and see if I can find the mistake. Today was amazing. We went to the lax game at HSE. It was like a mild summer day. Beautiful out! We went back home, had some lunch and did a few things then headed out to my friend's Corinne's house. We got there before the party began and visited. Well, we were just sitting out back and Cody did not want to leave. So we stayed for 4 hours. We sat away from everyone outside so it worked out well. We got home around 4 and then around 5 Cody tried his salad. Well within the hour, we were back to bloody stools. He was devastated. We called but did not have to rush in to the hospital unless he had more. Of course he did and that was at 2:30 in the morning. We tried to sleep a little longer but we were both up so we got to Sloan around 4:00 am. He had another bloody stool again. Just waiting to see what the plan is and what they think the culprit is. To be continued....

March 19, 2010

Friday-I feel like it was a long week. It ended up being a nice one but it ended stressful. Today started good but was a tough one. I was on the phone for a long time today trying to get something sorted out with Cody's medications. Still did not get it solved. Then this afternoon, there was some issues with Cody's dad. I felt bad tonight because Cody was pretty upset. He really wants the 'family' to get therapy. I agreed to for Cody. Not sure it will help this situation after this long but I will do it for Cody. This is what I do. He finally calmed down and went to sleep. We have a great day planned for tomorrow and I am looking forward to it. We are going to the lacrosse game at HSE in the morning. Then taking a drive to Corinne's to see them for a little while before Colin's family party. It is nice so we can sit outside and Cody can keep his distance from the babies. We still have to watch that.
Cody tried tomatoes today and so far, so good. If he can tolerate them, he opens the door for a lot more.
Sadly, we found out that Casey did not pass a part of his ranger training. Not sure if this means another 3 weeks of training but hopefully Nicole will hear from him tonight or tomorrow and let us know. She drove to see him in Ft Benning and now not sure if she will. She is supposed to and was supposed to see him today. I feel bad for her and for him. This is postpone our trip to GA as he will not be graduating at the end of April as far as I know. See what he says when we talk hopefully tomorrow.
Hope everyone is enjoying the sun!! Nice!

March 18, 2010

Thursday-Today was our appt with the gastro doctor. He was very pleased with Cody's progress. We got mixed signals again and as he says he can start to try more things. I hope he gets in touch with our dr. We are going slow and we know what to do if he reacts. We are working to get his feeds up, slowly but surely so that we can reduce the IV nutrition. Then we had to go track down Cody's favorite NP so he could give her some hot sauce he got last week. He is so cute that way.
Mark your calendars. My dear friends, the Dalia's and the SooHoo's are at it again. There will be another fundraiser for Cody on May 23 at Dave and Buster's. We are so lucky!
I got a short note from Casey today and he wants me to make him these cookies I used to make. It is not baking as the cookies are already made but you put them together and they look like hamburgers. (yellow and red icing for ketchup and mustard, and shredded coconut dyed green for lettuce, cookies are two oatmeals for buns and chocolate one for burger) This is what he wants. We get to talk to him tomorrow as he has 8 hrs off. Nicole is on her way there. Good wife, that she is.
Enjoy the nice weather....oxoxoxo

March 17, 2010

Wednesday-Happy St. Patrick's Day...it sure was a nice one! Today Cody had 2 tutors but the one in the afternoon was actually not feeling well so he did not come in. We were outside for a little while today and he enjoyed the sun and visited with neighbors. He had a good day and feels pretty good. I left him to run errands a few times today and he was fine here alone.
Today I got an email from a parent of a student I had last year. It was really sad that I left becuase I shared a birthday with this particular boy. I was hoping to be back or at least come in to say Happy Birthday to him but never made it. So the email said that the parent's friend registered with the bone marrow registry last year at the drive for Cody. This friend was called and is a possible donor for a 2 year old boy! She said it happened becuase of the drive for Cody. I am so touched by this. I told Cody and he felt equally as touched. What a beautiful thing. I am waiting for my call! I donate blook every 56 days. That first night at Schneider's with Cody was so scary and watching him get a blood transfusion and platelets was even scarier. Little did I know how many times he would come to need blood and platelets over the course of this year. And to think I thought this was the hard part. It is such an easy thing to do and yes, the pokes are no fun but you can really save someone. I donate whole blood, the platelets, red blood cells and the plasma are separated and go to those that need it. It helps so many. To see these kids walking around the hospital with units being transfused really makes you think differently and makes you want to donate. (I will go with you, Picarello!)
I hope the luck of the Irish was upon each and every one of you today...it was a good one for us!

March 16, 2010

Tuesday-Today was a regular visit to Sloan. It took us 2 hours to get there. I heard some roads were blocked from the storms. We had a thorough visit and talked a lot about food. He really wants to eat and try new things but we still have to go slow. Dr. K told us to be careful of RSV virus. They actually lost a patient. She went to her school's basketball game and was 3 months post transplant and this settled in her lungs. There was nothing they could do. So we have to continue to stay out of the schools for now. I had wanted to do a few things inside the school but not going to happen. There was a lot of talk about what exactly we can cut back on and what we can try and what we need to adjust. It will take a long time for him to get there but he will get there. With each day, we are closer to seeing Casey so we have to continue this.
Today was nice and sunny and we sat outside after we got home. Cody has some lower back pain but he enjoyed sitting out in the sun. It was nice and warm. We just sat and watched the neighbors. Hopefully the warm weather continues....

March 15, 2010

Monday- Today was a gloomy day. We had a quiet day but a busy one. I think we have the blood pressure worked out. Cody ate 3 eggs today! He also ate chicken. He had his english tutor and then he rested for a little while before going to physical therapy. He has been talking to one of the high school girls there and she just started playing xbox so they exchanged names. I am happy for him. The guys tease him there because his blood pressure is always high when we get there. I think we know now why. Maybe a little interest in the assistant at physical therapy?? Cute! He was pretty tired tonight and went to bed and got a good night of sleep.

Sunday, March 14, 2010

March 14, 2010

Sunday-Well with the time change and the weather, it was a good day to sleep. Cody slept in and felt pretty good. He had some blood pressure issue but hopefully we will have these worked out soon. He feels great and looks amazing.
We hung around all morning then ran a few errands before heading to the Islanders game. We had amazing seats again. It was a great game to watch and they beat the Toronto Mapleleafs 4-1.
We were not sure if we were going down to see the players. They were leaving right away for Vancouver. We talked with Ann after the game and we did not get to go down. It was fine and I know we will go again. Cody just really lights up there and loves it there. We did the 50-50 raffle and decided that if we win, we would use it for season tix next year. I hope we are able to do that. He loves going and right now, it is what he lives for. It is what he looks forward to and I think he will miss it when the season ends next month. See what I can do. Again, I hope this rain clears out of here without causing too much damage. I hope everyone got their power back.
Have a good night and a good week...

March 13, 2010

Saturday-What a rainstorm today. It rained all day and was so windy! SO many lost power today and I was sorry to hear. Well, I did a good deed today. I took Cody to NYC, his uncle's apartment for his surprise 50th party. Now this would make him my ex brother in law. He is the one that came to visit Cody several times while we were in the hospital and he did help Cody throughout this ordeal. I took him because his dad was not here and the whole family was there. Other aunts and uncles, cousins and 2nd cousins too. Most I have not seen in over 10 years so it was interesting. Not something I wanted to do, but I did it for Cody. He had a great time and gave his uncle an Islanders tshirt. One of Cody's uncles walked us to the car and it was dark and rainy. It was only 7 pm but it was dark. We parked in a garage with a huge entrance. So we were walking along this path with stonework and it was hard to see the path. I could not tell I was on the step and I went down. It was like I was sliding into home plate. Thank god I was ok. I feel on my good knee but am sure I will be bruised and sore in the morning. Hope the storm was not too bad and that no one got hurt.

march 12, 2010

Friday-Today we took off around 10 to head into the city to go to NYU for Cody's 2nd part of his psychological. We stopped off so I could get a bagel and he saw a friend there, Jordan Fitterman and his mom. So we sat with them and we ate, he did not. He is a trooper that way. We talked a little to them and I am really trying to get him back with his friends. I know he has missed so much but he needs his friends. We got to the city around 11:30. Cody's grandparents met us there (yes, my x-inlaws) and we visited with them and then Cody was in his testing for an hour and a half. We then took a short walk with them to have lunch, once again without Cody eating again. He was happy with his pretzels. He is really a strong person to sit there and watch everyone eat. Then the party came up. There is a party tomorrow night for Cody's uncle and a lot of the family and cousin's will be there. The inlaws put me in an awkward position and asked us to go. His dad and stepmom will not be going but other family members will be there. So he wants to go and guess what? That means I go. So we are going before anyone gets there to see the family for an hour then we will see his uncle and head back home. It is another trip into the city for us but we will see. I def get the another gold star for this one, Dad. Heck, make it a diamond one this time...:) You do know that a my birthstone is a diamond, don't you Dad?????
I talked to Nicole today and we are really hoping we can go in April. I actually felt excited about it too which I have not felt excited in a long time. I am hoping. She was home and waiting for a new couch delivery and will see Casey next week. We get to speak to him then.
Stay dry, my NY friends...oxoxoxo

march 11, 2010

Thursday- Today was a better day. Cody worked hard with 2 tutors today. He really worked hard but he did well. I am so proud that he is doing his best to try to keep up. I know it is not the most fun thing to do. He has a long way to go but there are few of the teachers that I am pretty sure he enjoys seeing. We were both kinda lazy most of the day but Cody felt pretty good, thank goodness.

Thursday, March 11, 2010

March 10, 2010

Wednesday-Today was another nice and sunny day. I know the rain is coming so I suggested we get out and take a ride. Cody ate his egg and we got in the car. As soon as I made the u-turn to head toward Huntington, he vomited. Not sure where that came from. I had been trying to wean him a little from the anti nausea med thinking he did not need it as much. Well, guess I was wrong. We came back home to get the meds but he still wanted to get out. He felt fine which was good because I was so scared it was going to be like the last time when he went down. He is having diarrhea so I was a bit worried. He was fine most of the day but still has diarrhea. So I emailed the dr and we started immodium again. I did not wake him during the night to take it but he needs it as he went a lot. They are not concerned just yet, could be more because he is eating. It is always something with this poor kid. Thank goodness he is feeling better but I just wish there was an end to the diarrhea. He had his social studies tutor and felt fine and went to physical therapy too. He did take a short nap but I felt like he needed it. All else seems good.

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

march 9, 2010

Tuesday-We got up nice and early and got to Sloan around 10. For some reason today, everyone was backed up. When we went to the IV room, it was a long wait. We did get to chat with a few other transplant patients. Transplant patients wait in a different room. There is a guy, I think he is 23 and Cody chats with him online and then sees him at clinic. Nice guy. It is amazing how different everyone's transplant is. Then we waited longer than usual for Dr. Kernan. They were short handed too. All went well and he was put back on the antibiotic that goes right to his stomach. His diarrhea seemed to be coming back and we had finished it on Saturday but started it again today. I think it will do the trick. Then we got stuck waiting for our meds. We decided to take a walk and went down to the park and sat in the sun while we waited. We are going to try chicken on the grill now and maybe some potatoes in the oven. He had 2 eggs tonight and more pretzels. We got home and went to the candy store to get some sugar free sucking candy. His sugars are high so we are keeping it safe. Then we relaxed here and am now ready for bed. Well, he is in bed and I am going soon. Nite all...enjoy the sun while it is here.

Monday, March 8, 2010

March 8, 2010

Monday-beautiful day! We were lazy this morning but once we got up, we did not stop. Cody hung around and I did a few errands. He did some homework and then had his english tutor. Then he went to physical therapy. We are heading in tomorrow for our visit and are trying to figure out what foods he should try next. He is doing so well with eggs, pretzels and now diet drinks. (sugars are high). He is kinda tired of the chicken route. Any suggestions? He is so picky, that is part of the problem. Hoping the night goes well and hoping for a good visit tomorrow.

Sunday, March 7, 2010

March 7, 2010

Sunday-It was another beautiful day here on LI. We got outside, I did some yardwork and Cody relaxed or tired too. Hard to do that with the dogs bouncing around him. He wanted to go to the movies with a friend, Alex. Her dad is Marc that lives up the block. So we took Tom and decided on a movie. I feel like it was the nicest day and we were indoors. Oh well, I was just glad to see Cody with his friends. Then we got home and Bobby, his drum teacher came over. Cody wanted to hear him play to the songs he has been playing. It got Cody in the mood so he jammed for a little while too. It is so good to see him doing the things he used to do.
We are still trying to regulate his blood sugar and blood pressure. It is always something. He emails the dr but hopefully we will get some food issues ironed out.
Hope everyone enjoyed the sun!

March 6, 2010

Saturday-Today there was no fever. VERY happy about that. Cody got out this morning and just sat in the backyard in the sun for a little while. It was nice and warm. We left for the hockey game around 1 and had a great time. The Islanders did not win but it was a good game to watch. And of course, we got to go downstairs post game and see the players, mainly Richard. Cody knows a lot of the PR people there and he calls out to them when they see him. It makes him feel so special. He really feels comfortable there and loves seeing the team. We get to see other players while we are waiting for Richard and some of them come up to him and say hi and ask him how he is. Then we get to go down the hall a little ways and 'hang' with Richard. He is a super nice guy and so personable. Cody wore one of the sweatshirts he gave him to the game and he noticed it right away. He always wears Cody's bracelet too. We are so lucky to have Ann, our connection girl and she always hooks us up and we get the good seats. Thanks, Ann! We got home and we were both pooped. It was a perfect day! P.S. We got to meet Sparky before and after the costume. He is a good guy too!

March 5, 2010

Friday- Well, I guess I am forgetting to click 'save' because this is the 2nd time for this entry too. Well, Cody did well and still ran the 99 temp today. Dr said it could be from the steroid tapering that we are doing. Let's hope so. He feels good and ate 3 eggs today. I will take that.
We hung around here most of the day and just relaxed. We are looking forward to the Islanders game tomorrow. Sorry this is short but I already wrote it once....Enjoy the sun!!
Oh yeah I was saying that Nicole moved in the new apartment. Her parents are there to help. I know she misses Casey and we do too!!!
Have a good weekend everyone!

March 4, 2010

Thursday-Hmm, I am pretty sure I wrote for today but not sure where it went so here goes from what I can remember.
Cody worked really hard today with 2 tutors. He did math an english and got lots of homework. He was feeling pretty good but a tad bit tired. He ate today and did well.
Well, around 5 pm I took his temp and lo and behold it was 99.9. So I make the call and off we go to Sloan On the ride there, I touched his head several times. I am pretty good at temps manually now. His head will probably be bruised from all my touches. He did not feel warm at all and he quoted me "cool as a cucumber". We get there and we blood cultures just in case. I was really glad they did not start pumping him full of antibiotics. His counts were good and no fever was recorded there. So Cody made a new friend, Dr. B because he was the one that ultimately sent us home. First time ever. Cody and I were much more calm this time as we really had nothing to worry about. The stools are good and showing no indications of blood and the food are staying in. Got home late but got to sleep in our own beds!

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

march3, 2010

Wednesday-Today was another good day. We woke up to the rain or was it snow, or was it sleet or was it freezing rain? Oh enough already. Cody visited with his dad for about an hour and I went to the gym. Trying to get back into it. It sure is hard when you do not go. I also got a slice of pizza that I have been craving. Cody had his social studies tutor and then he went to physical therapy. He did pretty well once again. Funny though, they take his blood pressure there and it was high. The cute girl takes it for him. I think he likes all the girls there. We took in a few minutes and it was fine. So cute.
Today I got a letter from the sperm bank. The day after we got Cody's formal diagnosis he had a big decision to make. After the chemo and later after the radiation, we know that he will not be able to father kids. So after he called his brother he decided to try and was able to make a donation. We have it saved in a sperm bank. So this letter said that as of Dec 16, his one year had expired and if we did not pay for the next year's storage, it would be destroyed within 30 days. Well, this was the one thing Tim was supposed to take care of and guess what? He forgot and he also forgot a blood test they need. SO before he left with his lovely wife and stepsons to go to the city for a show, he had to go to the storage place and pay and get me the blood work that is needed. Later I got an email from the dr. Cody emailed her and asked her if there was a chance that his kids would have cancer. I was speechless. She cc'd me in the email because she wanted me to see what he asked. I am so proud of him and he is in control. He has questions and he knows where to go for answers. He is so mature and has learned so much and has real concerns and questions.
Today he tried scrambled eggs. Let's hope all stays nice and normal. He is feeling really good and I pray it stays this way.
Saturday we have tix for the Islanders game. I know he cannot wait to go so I really hope he stays well. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed...nite all

Tuesday-We did not sleep too well last night. Not sure why but that made for a tiring day. We hit traffic this morning on our journey to Sloan. Cody had to get the IV infusion for pneumonia and he gets premedicated for it as it makes him nauseous. So with that med, he was knocked out. All went well with the drs and they seem pretty happy with his progress. They keep telling him that this will not be forever. He asked his questions, mainly about food and we will try eggs in the morning. The blood sugars seem to be under control now too, thank goodness. We asked about being able to travel at the end of April to GA for Casey's graduation. It looks promising. I have to do some research to find area hospitals and see where to stay to break the trip up. It is 14 hours by car and he cannot fly yet. I do hope we can make it but if he is not up to it, we will go visit them in June. I like to give Cody alternatives so he knows it is not the only opportunity to visit. He really wants to see his brother and it breaks my heart when he tells me he misses him. It would be a nice trip for both of us either way. And maybe we will do it both times.
I made my decision to not return to work until September. I had a long talk with my dad. If anyone understands this, it is him. He hears from me on a daily basis and knows how it is day to day even though he cannot be here. Emotionally we need some time and obviously physically. It would not be fair to anyone, my students, Cody or myself. There is no way I can go from leaving him for an hour or two to 40 hours a week. It would only be for 3 months and it would be so stressful. His dad is not reliable and it just would be too much. I spoke to the union president and he will relay it to CO and we will go from there. I did let my principal and asst principal know so I do feel better about that. I also have lots to do to get Cody ready for the regents and finish school. Not sure if he will be able to go back in Spetember as a senior but we are working on it. He knows this. I know he is not happy but I think he will be ok. Not sure yet but we are prepared.
So with that, have a great day....be in touch tomorrow

Monday-A great and busy day! The blood sugars seem to be leveling out. I hope they stay that way tonight. We went to do errands today then took a walk with the dogs. It was so nice out. Cody has his spanish tutor and did really well. Then he went to physical therapy and did well there too. He just keeps getting better and I feel like this is his time...to improve!!
He hung out here tonight with his dad and stepbrothers and played Monopoly. As for me, I watched (still watching) The Bachelor finale. I know, I know, but it takes my mind off this for a little while. Maybe I should be the next Bachelorette. That is why Cody's night nurse says. HA!
I hope we have lots more days of Cody feeling so well and I feel we are headed there...FINALLY!
Enjoy the sun!!
