So we made it to FL and back. Cody got blood work there and did not need anything. That was on Thursday so he is all set to begin chemo tomorrow unless something changes.
We had a nice visit with the family and also for my mom's memorial. We picked up her ashes on Wednesday and that was pretty sad. Cody was good and so supportive. We cleaned out her place and I spent the rest of the day going through pictures. It is so sad to be at her place and have to clean out her stuff. My aunts did a lot of it before I got there but her more personal stuff was there. I tried my best to separate stuff and set aside for both of my brothers and for my niece and nephews. My aunts (mom's sisters) got there on Friday. It was bittersweet to see them for sure and they are very sad too. They were very close. We had a good time reminiscing and sharing pictures.
Casey drove through the early morning hours and was there Saturday morning. We all went to the cemetery and spread her ashes. It was very special and so sad again. I have a baby niece buried there too so we spread some on her grave too. She shared a middle name with my mom. I know my mom liked that we did that.
The memorial was nice too. I made 2 poster board displays and we had tables set up. Her sisters did one and I made one for the us. I wrote something and Cody read it and Roy said a few words. A few cousins were there and a few friends. My friend Gregg came and my other friends, Cherie and Tim came over later to Roy's.
We were able to have dinner with Dad and Bonnie and we enjoyed that. It was a very busy visit but full of emotion. They took us to the airport on Sunday and we had an early dinner with them then too.
I brought some ashes home to spread when it snows. We had thought of the beach but mom really didn't like the beach. She loved the snow. The whole process is so sad but that is life. Makes ya think, I tell ya.
Thanks to all of you for your love and support. I appreciate your thoughtfulness.
Send your good karma and vibes for Cody and he battles again this week.
xoxoxo
